High-speed, Shallow Draft Fish Tender for Western Alaska
10-23-2007 Coastwise Corporation completed the preliminary design of a 57 foot high-speed shallow draft vessel for operation in Western Alaska. This aluminum vessel is designed to quickly deliver high value fish product from remote locations to processing facilities. It can carry 44,000 pounds of deck cargo at 25 knots. Larger carrying capacities are available at slower speeds.
This vessel is designed to operate in waters as shallow as three feet and is able to maintain full speed in the rough, steep wave climates typical of Bristol Bay and Norton Sound. Overnight accommodations are provided for four crew members to allow the tender to overnight at remote locations.
The vessel is powered by two Caterpillar C18 main engines with Hamilton 403 water jets and is provided with AC and DC electrical systems and engine driven hydraulic power. Coastwise included a specially designed lightweight boom and mast lifting system in the design to allow for cargo loading at un-improved facilities.
Designed for Allen Marine, Inc as a stock company hull design, this vessel will be the platform for multiple high-speed commercial vessel configurations. The hull design is based on model testing and full scale performance of Allen Marine's successful 65 foot high-speed passenger ferry, also designed by Coastwise.
