High-Speed Commercial Gill-Netter with Luxury Comforts
Coastwise Corporation provided hull design, structural calculations and stability engineering for a high-speed commercial gill-netter. The F/V Highlander is a combination stern picker and longliner designed to catch various fish, and store catch within her nine fish holds.
This 47-foot-long by 14-foot-wide aluminum gill-netter is powered by twin 625 horsepower main engines and propelled by a pair of 20-inch high-thrust marine jets. The Highlander features many crew comforts including a full galley with an oversized electric stove, an entertainment system including a TV and DVD player, as well as 6-inch memory foam cushions on all the bunks. The vessel also features a heated raingear locker with a boot drier.
The vessel was constructed by Bay Welding in Homer, Alaska, who also designed the cabin and systems layout. Coastwise Corporation was selected for this effort based on our extensive aluminum vessel design knowledge of vessel operations in remote Western Alaska.
