Lake Boat Transports Guests to Skilak Lake Lodge
Coastwise Corporation provided detail design, structural calculations and stability engineering for a lake boat landing craft for Alaska Wildland Adventures. The Alaska Nellie transports up to 20 passengers around Skilak Lake, Alaska, to lodges on the shores of the glacier carved lake.
The 29-foot-long by nearly 12-foot-wide aluminum passenger landing craft is powered by twin 250 horsepower outboard engines and has a fuel capacity of 250 gallons. The Alaska Nellie has bench seating along each side of the vessel so that every passenger has a window seat. Vinyl roll-away windows allow for unobstructed views in all weather conditions.
This vessel was constructed by Bay Welding of Homer, Alaska, who also designed many of the mechanical and electrical systems. Coastwise Corporation was selected for this effort based on our extensive aluminum vessel design knowledge.
